Teachers Health Fund

Teachers Health Fund acknowledges the current global challenges in terms of environment and natural resources and we recognise our part in reducing our recourse use and ecological footprint by the most effect and efficient sustainable practices. Teachers Health Fund has the capability to send the majority of paper correspondence to our members electronically. This includes a vast range of communications letters relating to the membership and also claims.

BPAY View Online

Research conducted by Planet Ark for BPAY View, to determine the benefits of BPAYView Online, further supported the environmental benefits of switching to online communications. Planet Ark then worked with BPAY to develop tools to promote this service, which allows users to view and pay bills online, rather than receive them by post.

Since January 2007, BPAY View Online has sent the equivalent of 18.22 million pages of bills, which would have been enclosed in 12.07 million envelopes. This means that BPAY View businesses and consumers helped save an estimated 118 tonnes of paper with an associated 389,400kg of greenhouse gas emissions and almost 8 million litres of water.

From an environmental perspective, each of these initiatives reduces paper consumption and wastage. From a business perspective, each initiative also reduces printing, postage and administration costs. Once again, demonstrating that being environmentally responsible can save money.

In those instances where businesses choose to print and post, Planet Ark encourages the use of soy-based inks in printing and recycled content & sustainably sourced paper and envelopes.
